This five-story structure was originally designed as a residential care facility for people with Alzheimer's disease, but the building was never completed when a prior developer's plan was scuttled. Vacant and abandoned for more than four years, the building was part of a larger package acquired through a foreclosure. An adaptive re-use will create 39 units of affordable rental housing for independent seniors and eliminate a neighborhood blight. In a unique partnership, Council for Jewish Elderly will operate and staff an on-site "resource center" to help seniors-both building residents and members of the community at large-connect to appropriate programs and services.
